Florida Philanthropy Fellows Program

FPN Fellows Program 1FPN's Florida Philanthropy Fellows Program will immerse people new to the field of philanthropy in a year-long experience of personal inquiry and discovery that will build your self-awareness as a professional and as a philanthropic leader. Through readings, webinars, interaction with seasoned philanthropic leaders and in-depth time together with your fellows cohort, you'll gain new insights into your work, your field and your path forward to achieve your personal and professional goals - all with a distinct Florida focus and flavor.

 
Key Fellows Program Experiences

> Kick-Off Retreat with your fellows cohort over 3.5 days in mid-May 2012 at Elizabeth Pointe Lodge on Amelia Island.
      
> Webinars and other educational programs throughout the year to advance your learning and exploration with your fellows cohort and seasoned leaders in Florida’s philanthropy field.
     
> Readings throughout the year to inform your journey of inquiry and discovery.
     
> A mentoring program that will pair you with a seasoned professional in Florida’s philanthropy field, to create an opportunity for cross fertilization and engagement between the generations of philanthropic practitioners in Florida.
      
> Development of a session for FPN’s 2013 Summit, working together with your fellows cohort.


Who Should Apply

FPN Fellows Program 2Participation in FPN's Florida Philanthropy Fellows Program is open to people working in Florida's philanthropy field in any type of staff or board position for any type of grantmaking organization (including community foundations, private independent foundations, private family foundations, public charity grantmakers and corporate foundations or corporate giving programs). Participants will typically have less than five years' experience in the philanthropy field but will have been in the field long enough to have the appropriate context for their work (typically at least one year).

> June 18-21, 2012 Fellows participation in Florida Philanthropy Leadership Conversations across Florida.
     
> September 21 2012 Fellows gathering in Tampa to plan 2013 Summit session.
      
> January 31-February 1, 2013 Fellows participation in FPN's 2013 Statewide Summit on Philanthropy.
   
> March 2013 Closing event for Fellows.


FPN Fellows Program Facilitators & Leaders

FPN Fellows Program 3Serving as co-facilitators of FPN's Florida Philanthropy Fellows Program will be Maggie Osborn, vice president of FPN, and Mark Sedway, founder of Sedway Associates and director of the Philanthropy Awareness Initiative (PAI). Osborn has extensive experience in providing training, coaching and professional support for nonprofit organizations and nonprofit and philanthropic leaders. Through his work with PAI and his own consulting practice, Sedway brings a broad and deep understanding of philanthropy, and has written reports, made presentations and conducted trainings for a variety of audiences in the philanthropy world. Joining Osborn and Sedway at the Kick-Off Retreat and other fellows programs will be various seasoned leaders in Florida's philanthropy field as well as national experts on key leadership topics to be covered in the program.


Fees

The cost of the Florida Philanthropy Fellows Program for the 2012-2013 class is $1,350 for FPN members and $2,150 for non-members, which includes room and board for the Fellows Kick-Off Retreat on May 14-17, 2012, and all program materials. Transportation costs for all in-person meetings and registration fees for the FPN Summit are not included. Two partial (50%) scholarships are available (FPN members only); scholarship recipients will be selected by the FPN Fellows Review Committee.

Applications will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis by the FPN Fellows Review Committee.
