FPN President David Biemesderfer Named to National Philanthropy Board

(Winter Park, FL - August 2, 2010)  Florida Philanthropic Network President & CEO David Biemesderfer has been elected to the board of directors of the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers in Arlington, VA, a national philanthropic leader and a network of 34 regional associations of grantmakers, including Florida Philanthropic Network, from across the country that collectively represent more than 4,500 grantmakers. The Forum's membership elected Biemesderfer to serve a three-year term on the board at the Forum's annual meeting on July 27, 2010.

“David’s experience and expertise will be an invaluable contribution to the Forum board as we strengthen the ability of all regional associations to fulfill their missions, collaborate with each other, and work well with our national philanthropic colleagues,” said Michael Litz, President & CEO of the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers. “His broad and deep understanding of the philanthropy sector and the integral role that regional associations play in the sector will be particularly helpful at this important stage in the Forum’s growth and development.”

Biemesderfer joined Florida Philanthropic Network in January 2009 and became President & CEO in June 2010.  Prior to joining FPN, Biemesderfer spent four years consulting for a wide range of foundations and philanthropy associations on strategic communications, accountability, ethics and governance issues.  He also worked for 10 years at the Minnesota Council on Foundations, FPN's colleague organization in Minneapolis, serving as the Council's Vice President.

Founded in 2001, Florida Philanthropic Network is a statewide association of grantmakers working to strengthen philanthropy through research, education and public policy. Florida Philanthropic Network represents community, private, corporate, operating and family foundations and other grantmakers across the state that are committed to building philanthropy to build a better Florida.
