About the Summit |
|
Who Should Attend? |
The Summit is open to all staff and board members of any
grantmaking foundation or other type of grantmaking
organization, including private independent foundations,
family foundations, public grantmaking foundations,
community foundations, corporate foundations and corporate
giving programs. The Summit is also open to invited leaders
of government agencies and departments, businesses, academic
institutions, and membership associations or other umbrella
organizations that represent the interests of the nonprofit
sector or specific segments of the sector.
Vendors/consultants cannot attend the Summit unless they are
a Summit exhibitor or sponsor, or are representing a
foundation/grantmaker client at the request of that
foundation/grantmaker client. |
Summit Theme Statement |
FPN's 2012 Summit Planning Committee developed the following
theme statement to guide planning for the Summit:
Florida grantmakers today find themselves working within
a landscape where "change" is not a buzzword or trend but
rather is standard operating procedure. In today's new
social economy, there is a blurring of lines between public
and private, for-profit and nonprofit, philanthropy and
social investing. Technology advances have created vast new
opportunities for charitable giving at the same time that
the lingering effects of the Great Recession have
exacerbated serious societal problems and inequities. Taken
together, these challenges and trends are prompting many
funders to take a closer look at the effectiveness of their
grantmaking, to give greater consideration to all of their
resources beyond their grant dollars, and to reconsider how
to work together in a more networked society. |
About Florida Philanthropic Network |
Florida Philanthropic Network is a statewide association of
grantmakers working to build philanthropy to build a better
Florida. FPN's members
are private independent, corporate and family foundations,
community foundations and corporate giving programs - from
Miami to Jacksonville; Naples to the Panhandle - who hold over
$6 billion in assets (excluding members located outside
Florida) and invest over $420 million annually to improve
the quality of life for our citizens. Our members share a
commitment to promoting philanthropy, fostering
collaboration and advancing public policy by Florida, in
Florida.

Giving Opportunity at the Summit:
Helping Florida's Older Adults Meet Basic Needs |
As a partner in the EngAGEment Initiative, a national initiative to bring attention to issues of our
aging population among grantmakers, FPN is inviting Summit attendees to bring
a gift card that will go to one of five elder-serving agencies across
Florida, to help older adults in Florida meet their basic
needs. Ideal
gift cards would be for major grocery stores, drug stores or
discount retail stores (Target, Walmart, etc.). We will
create a central gifting and information spot at the Summit
where you can donate your gift cards and get to know the
agencies that will benefit from your generosity. |
