Foundations on the Hill

Location Title:
Washington, D.C.

Registration is now open for Foundations on the Hill, the one time each year when Philanthropy joins together and speaks with one voice to our elected representatives in Washington, D.C. Florida is the third most populous state in the union, representing both a microcosm and macrocosm of many issues facing friends and neighbors across the nation. From immigration to jobs to housing to so many more important issues affecting the future of our communities and our sector, we need your voice to help make ours heard throughout the halls of congress.

This year, our Florida Delegation will focus on emphasizing to our representatives two important issues many of us work with every day: Census and Immigration. On behalf of the philanthropic sector, we will also be working to share with our elected officials the importance of the Charitable Tax Deduction and preservation of the Johnson Amendment. If you have questions, resources, or would like more information please email kate@fpnetwork.org and we’ll let you know how to get involved!

For Facts Sake, CEO & Board Dinner & Dialogue

The rise of "fake news" on social media has created, or been used to create, massive pockets of distrust in our institutions, leaving Americans unsure what or whom to believe. Trust and credibility is under attack, and the philanthropic sector is not immune. What can foundation leaders do about it? More than you'd think. But we need to get to work. Aaron Sharockman is the executive director of PolitiFact, the largest fact-checking organization in the United States and a winner of the Pulitzer Prize. The CEO & Board Dialogue & Dinner is open to the chief executives and board members of any grantmaking foundation or other type of grantmaking organization.

How the Federal Tax Overhaul Could Impact Our Sector

Location Title:
Webinar

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill are working to pass tax reform before the holidays — that’s just two weeks from today. Both houses have already passed their own versions of the bill, and now it’s up to a conference committee to refine a version that could be passed by both the House and Senate.

While we don’t yet know what final shape this tax bill will take, what we do know is that this tax overhaul stands to have a profound impact on nonprofits and grantmakers alike.

Join Johnson Center for Philanthropy for a FREE webinar on Thursday, December 14 as we address many of your questions — and how Congress is trying to answer them.
