Florida Philanthropic Network Announces New Board Members, Officers

Two leaders in Florida’s philanthropy field have joined the Board of Directors of Florida Philanthropic Network, a statewide association of grantmakers. At its meeting on January 28, 2015, FPN’s Board of Directors welcomed Térèse Coudreaut Curiel, Vice President of Administration for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation in Miami; and Teri Hansen, President/CEO of Gulf Coast Community Foundation in Venice. Both new members were elected to three-year terms on the Board.

Florida Philanthropic Network, a statewide association of grantmakers, has joined hundreds of Florida nonprofits in #GivingTuesday, a national movement to transform how people think about and participate in the giving season. #GivingTuesday will inspire people to take action to improve their communities, give back in better, smarter ways and help create a better world. Taking place on December 3, 2013, #GivingTuesday will harness the power of social media to create a national day dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are synonymous with holiday shopping.

FPN President David Biemesderfer Elected Chair of Nation's Largest Philanthropy Network

Florida Philanthropic Network President & CEO David Biemesderfer has been elected Chair of the Board of Directors of the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers in Arlington, Va., the largest network serving the philanthropic sector in America. The Forum's network of 34 regional associations of grantmakers collectively represent more than 5,000 private and community foundations, corporate givers and other philanthropic organizations.

Four leaders in Florida's philanthropy field have joined the Board of Directors of Florida Philanthropic Network, a statewide association of grantmakers. At its meeting on January 30, 2013, FPN's Board elected Kim Bentley, JM Family Enterprises, Inc.; Matt Haggman, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation; and Patricia Maddox, Winter Park Health Foundation, to three-year terms on the Board. The Directors also elected to bring back to the Board Susan Towler, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Foundation, in May 2013.
