Join FPN’s Education Funders Affinity Group for our next convening in Central Florida at the Dr. J.B. Callahan Neighborhood Center, the cornerstone of the Parramore community, a historical black neighborhood in Orlando.
- Learn about the city of Orlando’s unique approach to community development using a model similar to the Harlem’s Children Zone. Hear from Parramore Kidz Zone on how they’re working to level the playing field for children in Orlando’s highest poverty neighborhood, equipping them to become successful, healthy, well-educated adults.
- We will learn the factors which have driven district middle school success in Sarasota through the support of Gulf Coast Community Foundation’s STEM Smart Initiative.
- We will be delving more deeply into our position to, “Research merit and need based financial aid, including the effects of recent changes to Florida Bright Futures.” To lay the groundwork, we’ll receive an overview of Florida’s state sponsored scholarship programs directly from the FL DoE.
- Hear from a panel of fellow EAG members how they have effectively engaged their local school district leadership and have an opportunity to explore during the discussion.
We would also like to hear from you as we continue to discuss EAG’s activities and plans for the future.
Who should attend? This event is open to board and staff of FPN member organizations.
