This Funders Together to End Homelessness webinar highlights the research and evaluation of homelessness prevention conducted by HealthSpark Foundation and Your Way Home Montgomery County, PA. We will learn what prevention means to the Foundation and why those chose to fund this project.

Our panelists will discuss how they went through the process of setting goals for this research, their approach in reaching out to community members and stakeholders for input, and detail their findings. We will have an in-depth discussion on the local replication of prevention models and the pilot programs currently being launched around eviction prevention and school based prevention.

Preview the findings of Homelessness and Education in Florida: Impacts on Children and Youth, co-authored by the Shimberg Center for Housing Studies at UF and Miami Homes for All. 

Commissioned by JPMorgan Chase & Co., the report explores the impacts of homelessness and housing instability on the education of children and youth in Florida by focusing on students’ experiences. The findings are based on student data provided by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) and phone interviews with school district staff serving as homelessness education liaisons in 29 counties throughout Florida. The report also includes policy recommendations based on the report findings and best practices from across the country.

Jessie duPont Fund loan to spur urban core development in Jacksonville

The Jessie Ball duPont Fund has invested $3 million in a Jacksonville nonprofit that promotes affordable housing, community facilities and small business development in Jacksonville’s urban core and surrounding areas.

That influx could lead to as much as $34 million in other financing to be used for the same purpose.

$1M Knight Foundation grant to tackle sustainability, resiliency in Miami and Miami Beach

Miami-Dade is already in talks with Housing and Urban Development, the federal agency that oversees some of the county’s affordable-housing projects.
