Within two weeks of launching each emergency fund for those affected by the coronavirus pandemic, the Town of Palm Beach United Way has raised $400,000 while the Community Foundation of Palm Beach and Martin Counties has raised over $1 million for the cause.
The Town of Palm Beach United Way’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund assists residents with short-term needs such as food and health care, and long-term needs resulting from unexpected layoffs and loss of income.
The latest $50,000 matching gifts were from John and Jana Scarpa and Bill and Norma Tiefel.
“It is times like this that we all need to come together to support our less fortunate neighbors and our community as a whole,” said Bill Tiefel. “We all must do our part to lessen the effects of this devastating virus.”
