United Way of Northeast Florida and United Way of St. Johns are committed to ensuring that residents in Northeast Florida have access to basic needs and critical community services during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Along with other Northeast Florida philanthropic leaders, the two branches have reactivated Florida’s First Coast Relief Fund and announced that Florida Power & Light Company, through the NextEra Energy Foundation, is gifting the nonprofit $15,000. The funds are part of COVID-19 emergency assistance from the NextEra Energy family of companies for partner organizations across the country and funds made available through FPL’s Care to Share program.
“United Way, and our fund partners The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida, the Jessie Ball duPont Fund, and the Jewish Federation of Jacksonville, are proud to work with an organization like FPL that continues to prioritize the needs of the local community it serves,” said Melissa Nelson, president and CEO of United Way of St. Johns. “It is through donations like these that we are able to continue to do the important work we do for our communities during this challenging time.”
