Tides of change: Oral historian tries to capture essence of Matanzas before it ebbs

Last year, Anna Hamilton approached the Matanzas Riverkeeper with the idea for her oral history project, and got their support as well as that of the Friends of Matanzas, an organization focused on environmental and land use concerns. Hamilton was approved for a grant from the Florida Humanities Council, and also received funding from local donors, which allowed her to begin recording and photographing subjects. The first installment of “Matanzas Voices,” featuring five interviews, was debuted at a listening event at the River House in April.
