Alberto Ibargüen, president and CEO of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, moderates a panel on the future of journalism in an age challenged by rising mistrust in media and a rampant spread of misinformation in this digital age. Joining him are David Lawrence Jr., Alexandra Villoch, Lorena Estrada and Sam Gill.

Dave is chair of the Children’s Movement of Florida, a non-partisan grassroots movement of Floridians focused on increased investment in the first five years of children’s lives. Dave is also a former publisher of The Miami Herald and the Detroit Free Press. Alex is one of four publishers across McClatchy’s 30 local media companies managing regional operations. In addition to supervising a number of publications from Florida to Pennsylvania, Alex is the president and publisher of The Miami Herald. Lorena is a weekend morning anchor and general assignment reporter at WSVN in Miami. Lorena is also involved with Joshua’s Heart Foundation and Florida Hemophilia Association. Sam Gill is Knight’s vice president of communities and impact overseeing investments in the 26 communities where the Knight brothers once published newspapers. Sam also leads the foundation’s effort to assess the impact of our past and present work.
